It’s "Better Know a Record Shop” time!
Our host Sama visits both locations of 1-2-3-4 Go Records, in San Francisco and in Oakland. He hangs out with Keith and a few new members of The Vinyl Exam family, picks up a couple of Ethiopian Funk/R&B albums, and plays Galaga for 25 cents. No 45s this time!
1-2-3-4 Go Records is many things in one: a record label, an online mail order business, a music venue, and a record shop. It opened in 2001 in Seattle, and moved to Oakland in 2003. Earlier this year they opened up a second, smaller shop in San Francisco. 1-2-3-4 Go partnered with Lost Weekend Video, a badass movie rental spot, on Valencia street. If you’re in the Bay Area, we recommend a quick stop at 1-2-3-4 Go. They’re open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas, from 11am to 8pm. And if you’re looking for new releases, or if you’re a fan of punk, garage, or indie music, then you just might spend a full day there.
